Bankstown Airport expansion stopped

Bankstown-AirportBankstown Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, with about 350,000 movements a year. That's about 1,000 movements a day.

In March 2008, there was speculation that budget airline Tiger Airways planned to expand into the Sydney market and make Bankstown Airport its base.

Jason campaigned against the expansion of Bankstown Airport for large passenger aircraft.

He argued,"It's a great place for local jobs, but a bad place for large passenger aircraft".

The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Anthony Albanese agreed and ruled out the expansion of Bankstown Airport as Sydney's second airport..

This is a great example of the difference a Labor government makes.
