Blaxland’s Volunteer Grants Now Open

As part of the 2021 Volunteer Grants, our local area will receive $132,450 this year to help local volunteer organisations that make our community a better place to live.

Expressions of Interest are now open for the next round of the Volunteer Grants program are due to the local Consultative Committee by Sunday 11 April 2021.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help community organisations to support the efforts of their volunteers. The grants can be used to buy small equipment for volunteers or for the reimbursement of volunteer fuel, transport or training costs. Funding is also available for promoting awareness and increasing participation in volunteering opportunities.

The programme has a two stage process.

Firstly, a completed EOI form  Blaxland expression-of-interest-form-2021-volunteer-grants (1).pdf from the organisation to my office.

Following a nomination panel process by a local Consultative Committee , a number of organisations will then be invited to make a full application to the Department of Social Services (Department) for the funding round.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible to apply for funding you will need to:

  • be a legal entity or be auspiced by an eligible organisation that is a legal entity
  • have a minimum of 40 per cent of volunteers working for your organisation
  • be a Not-For-Profit organisation
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or be willing to provide a
    Statement by Supplier Form
     (reason for not quoting an ABN) to the Department.
  • have an account with an Australian financial institution in the name of the organisation applying
  • complete and submit an EOI form available for download below.

Who is not eligible?

  • an individual
  • an unincorporated association
  • a Sole Trader
  • a for-profit organisation
  • a Commonwealth Company
  • a non-corporate Commonwealth Statutory Authority
  • a Local Government Entity
  • an International Entity.

Examples of eligible grant activities:

  • small equipment for the benefit of volunteers
  • fuel costs incurred by volunteers
  • transport costs of volunteers with a disability
  • training for volunteers
  • background screening checks for volunteers
  • promoting awareness of and increasing participation in volunteering opportunities
  • adapting practices to support volunteers’ safety in the COVID-19 pandemic environment.
