$961,840 for Community Care in Blaxland

"Many older members of our community want to be independent for as long as possible. The community care services we are providing will help people to stay at home and receive care and support there," said Mr Clare.

Older people living at home will benefit from:

  • 50 Community Aged Care Packages, worth $646,000, which will help to meet the care needs of older people living at home. They are designed as an alternative to low level care in residential aged care facilities.
  • 6 Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia Packages, worth $285,840, which will assist people experiencing the effects of dementia.
  • Community Grants totalling $30,000, which will help to establish new and flexible services for providers with special needs.

Older Australians in need of residential facilities will benefit from 57 extra places.

Mr Clare said, "The fact is, our population is getting older. There are now two million Australians aged over 70. That number is expected to triple over the next 40 years. That's why we are investing more in aged care than ever before."
