Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP on Thursday visited Computer Pals for Seniors, Bankstown to announce a $1,730 Federal Government Volunteer Grant.
Mr Clare said “This money will be used to assist volunteers with travelling costs as well as training costs.
“The Volunteer Grants Program is a great way to support our local volunteers like the trainers at Computer Pals who give up their time to help seniors in our local area with their computer questions.”
Computer Pals for Seniors President Peter Smart said “Computer Pals relies on volunteers to help train seniors one-on-one with computer skills every Tuesday and Thursday at the Bankstown Senior Citizens’ Centre.
“We’re so excited to be able to use this money to support our trainers for the work they do for the senior members of our community.”
Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are being awarded to local groups.
This year, thirty-five organisations in our local area each received a share of $145,605 in funding to support the fantastic work these organisations do for our community.
